When to Order and Install Doors? – The Eighth Episode of the "Your DRE" Series

This is one of the most frequently asked questions during renovation or furnishing an apartment: when to order doors and at what point to install them so that everything goes smoothly without stress and delays? The answer is simpler than it seems – provided we follow a few rules.

Interior doors, i.e., leaves and frames, are best installed at the very end of the renovation. In practice, this means the moment when we already have finished walls, laid flooring, and all wet works completed. Such a schedule minimizes the risk of damage and guarantees a perfect fit of the doors to the final floor level. Correct measurement of installation openings is also a key issue. Without well-prepared and accurately measured openings, even the best doors will not be installed correctly. Therefore, it is worth remembering one rule: do not order doors "blindly". First, measurement performed by an experienced installer, and only then placing the order. And when to order doors so that they arrive on time? The standard lead time at DRE is from 4 to 6 weeks, so it is best to place the order about 1.5–2 months before the planned installation. Such a time buffer allows you to calmly plan delivery and installation without nervously speeding up the works.
